Before registering for resident certificate, make sure your visa or temporary resident card is valid for at least 1 week more.
 
These are the steps:
 
1st step: Register online via Vietnam Immigration Department - Ministry of Public Security’s website: https://hochiminh.xuatnhapcanh.gov.vn/
Usually your real estate agent or the landlord will do this step. You need to provide your passport and visa information.  After registration 2-3 working days, you can get the approval online.
 
2nd step: Fill-out the resident certificate form and sign. Your real estate agent can provide the form, you can take it from local police station.

3rd step: Submitting the paperwork at local police station. To make sure you can meet the right person who is incharge of this paperwork, you need to come the police station at working time.
 
The necessary paperwork:
- A copy of lease contract
- A copy of passport
- A copy of valid visa or temporary resident card
- A copy of property ownership certificate (to provide the address you are living)
- A copy of the landlord’s ID card
- Depending on every police station, you may need to provide some more paperwork. Example: A paper from management office to confirm you are living in the condo, or the latest entry date on your passport…
 
Usually the real estate agent can support you to prepare all these paperwork.
 
It will take around 1-2 days to get the resident certificate approved (signed and stamped by the police man)
